Jesus once told his disciples off for trying to keep children out of his way. He said, “Let the little children come to me, for the Kingdom of God belongs to them!” They’re powerful words, which show us something about how God feels about children.
In this Parish we make an effort to help children engage in worship and to play their part in the family of God. Below you’ll find details of the children groups, and children’s worship, which happen in Weston and Shavington.
Edward Bear Club
EBC is Church for 0-5s and their grown up! Every Monday morning during term-time, Edward and his friends meet at Weston Church Hall from 9am until 10.30am. They have breakfast together, followed by songs, story-time, crafts, prayer parachute, and lots and lots of fun! Everyone aged 5 and under is welcome! Bring your own adult!
St Mark’s Toddler Group
St Mark’s Toddler Group is run with a Christian ethos and aims to offer a safe and friendly environment for adults with their pre-school children to meet and share mutually enjoyable activities. Toys, crafts, dressing up and pretend play along with climbing and riding equipment are available each week and a healthy, often home-made snack is available each week for both adults and children.
The group meets each Tuesday from 1.30pm-3.15pm with the exception of a 2 week holiday at both Christmas and Easter.
GLOW (God Loves Our World)
Meets fortnightly during term time on Tuesdays at 3.30pm at St Mark’s. GLOW is specially for primary school aged children, and involves food, games, crafts, bible stories, songs, and prayers. Everyone is welcome! Bring your own adult!
Sunday Celebration meets on the first Sunday of every month at St Mark’s Church. It’s a cafe style service, with breakfast served from 9am and throughout the service which begins at 9.30am. You’ll find the usual ingredients — prayers, bible stories, songs, time for reflection — but in a much more relaxed style & friendly atmosphere which is good for children and families.
