Singers at St. Mark’s (otherwise known as SAS) are a community choir based at St. Mark’s church in Shavington.
The choir was founded in 2012 by our original Musical Director, Nicola Moss, and we were joined shortly thereafter by Chris Neufeld who was our accompanist until Nicola left in 2014 when he also became MD. Chris sadly died in 2023 but we now have a new accompanist Scott Austin.
Although we are not a “church choir” in the traditional sense, we do perform occasionally at special services in St. Mark’s church (like the Carol Service in December). SAS hold concerts periodically at St Mark’s and we have also sung in a wide variety of other venues such as the opening of the Cheshire Show, care homes and pubs.
We recently performed for the local St Luke’s Hospice Support group and will hold our next concert in the Autumn of 2025.
The choir comprises all voices from Soprano to Bass; we sing a wide selection of music from religious to (relatively) modern pop and our membership has a range of musical ability.
New members are always welcome – we rehearse most Tuesday evenings in St. Mark’s church from 7.30 to 9.00 pm and we do not hold auditions. Rehearsal sessions are relaxed and fun with laughter accompanying song.
Our membership secretary, Elizabeth Allman-Davies would be pleased to provide further information to potential new members: (01270) 662536 / email elizdavies115@btinternet.com

- We respect each other regardless of opinions or abilities
- We don’t talk when we are singing or when other sections are practising
- We make sure our mobile phones are switched off or on silent
- We take care of our music and folders, only use pencils for marking-up, don’t hole punch and hand back in good order when no longer required

- We can talk to our section leader in case of any difficulties
