Parish New Year Meal

Our annual All Saints & St Mark’s Parish Meal happened to fall on 25th January this year – so we couldn’t resist a “Burns Night” theme”. 52 Parishioners sat down to a wonderful meal of Cock-a-leekie soup followed by Haggis, Neaps and Tatties (with Melon and Beef or Vegetarian casseroles also on offer), all cooked by our talented volunteers.

The Haggis was paraded around All Saints Church Hall for all to admire, to the tunes of a Scottish Piper, before the “Ode to the Haggis” was read and the traditional Toast raised.

Whilst we were digesting the main course everyone joined in singing some well-known (and some less well known….) Scottish songs, to work up a further appetite for the wonderful array of tempting Sweets and Cheese which rounded the meal off.

A great night was had by all, many thanks to everyone who worked so hard preparing the food and clearing everything away afterwards.
